Würzburger Residenz

In the Würzburger 'Residenz' Infinity lights present the world's largest coherent ceiling fresco of the Venetian fresco artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo in the proper light and fulfill all requirements of historic buildings and monuments.
Fully restored after three years of work and completed in 2006, the fresco and the white, stuccoed walls in early classical form are prominent sights of the Barock castle at the edge of the Würzburg city center. With a bank of just 6 lights of the type INFINITY 2, particularly the ceiling fresco is evenly and unobtrusively illuminated. Metal halide lamps with an output of 150W and neutral white colored light support the effect of the natural incident daylight. At night the lights switch to 500W halogen bulbs that produce a noticeably warmer light ambiance adapted to the evening and nighttime hours.

With the integrated secondary reflector, it is possible to direct the light deep into the room and thus to achieve great homogenity from the edge of the vault to the center and beyond.
The low number of lights required makes a primary contribution to the fact that the lights are optically restrained and do not spoil the impact of the room. Because no fixings were possible on the walls for reasons of the protection of historic buildings and monuments, special light masts were produced for holding the INFINITY lights that were actually designed as wall-mounted luminaires.
